On the photo or in the photo? On the picture or in the picture?
On the chart or in the chart? On the graph or in the graph?

Study the following example sentences:

What can you see in the picture?
Who are the people in the photo?
In picture A there is a ship.
It was him in the photo.
In picture 5 you can see a beautiful landscape.
Angela is the one on the left in the photo.

As you can see, "on" is never used with "picture" or "photo" in sentences like that. You must always use "in the photo / in the picture".
With other nouns like "chart" or "graph" the choice is not so obvious. Look at the following example sentences:

You must enter your results on the chart.
The information you need is shown on the chart.
Paul was asked to name all the letters on the chart.
You can look it up on the chart.

Look at the details listed in the chart on page 12.
Everything is shown in the chart below.
The bad news, shown by the red line in the chart, is that our income has fallen by 8 per cent.

Look at the axis showing the savings ratio on the graph.
The boy coloured the pictures on the graph.

There is a mistake in the graph.
Look at the changes illustrated in the graph.

Although phrases "on the chart" and "on the graph" seem to be more common, "in the chart" and "in the graph" are also correct.

(coś jest, coś widać) na wykresie = on the chart/on the graph albo in the chart/in the graph

W podanym znaczeniu, z rzeczownikami "picture" i "photo" należy używać wyłącznie przyimka "in". Z rzeczownikami "chart" i "graph" mamy do wyboru albo przyimek "on" albo "in". Trudno jest tu wskazać lepszą, bardziej poprawną formę. Obydwa przyimki stosowane są w tych samych kontekstach.

Na tym zdjęciu jestem ja i mój brat. = It's me and my brother in the photo.
Popatrz na niebieską linię na wykresie. = Look at the blue line on the chart.
Jak pokazano na wykresie, liczba imigrantów stale rośnie. = As it is shown in the chart, the number of immigrants is constantly rising.
